About Moon Waves

A space where your body is safe to let go.

We don't apply the same technique to everyone. We listen first. Then we work with what's there.

Who We Are

We're a small, intentional team — trained across many modalities, prioritizing your safety while drawing on the right techniques to meet your goals.

The Story

Moon Waves began with one transformative moment.

How it started

My previous job added a kind of pressure that followed me home even after I clocked out. But that pressure wasn't really the problem — it was just the newest weight on top of a stress I'd been carrying for a lot longer than that, one I'd never actually named or looked at.

A friend noticed how much tension I was holding, without me ever saying a word about it, and offered me a massage. I didn't expect much. An hour later, I stood up slowly — drowsy, blissed out — and realized I wasn't holding my breath anymore.

That was a life-changing moment. For most of my life, I'd been bracing — holding my breath in a way I didn't even know I was doing. And it was just... gone. My whole body exhaled. It hit me all at once — relief, gratitude, relaxation, and excitement, all at the same time. I'd just been given an amazing gift.

I already had a gift for touch. Now I finally had a direction for it. The next day, I was online searching for a teacher.

That question stuck with me, though — how much we underestimate stress, how quietly it runs our lives without us ever naming it. It's shaped everything since. Years later, my own nervous system reached a point of complete shutdown, a place where I couldn't even be touched because my body didn't feel safe. That collapse taught me more than any course could. It's where my focus on nervous system regulation actually comes from — not theory, but something I had to find my own way back from.

I've come to see every part of that path — the pain, the exhaustion, the loneliness, the joy, the connection — as a teacher. None of it was wasted. That belief shapes how I show up on the table now: nothing your body does is wrong, nothing needs to be rushed, and everything that surfaces has something to offer.

"If the nervous system doesn't feel safe, the body won't let go — and it also won't fully receive."
— Dominika Uscinska, Founder

The practice I'm building

That collapse changed how I practice. I'm not interested in treating a body in pieces, or in needing to know the backstory before I can help. What I've learned — from my own experience as much as anyone's — is that you don't have to go through the story again for your body to let go of it. You just have to feel safe enough on the table for release to happen on its own.

I think we've been taught to see our bodies as difficult — uncooperative, too sensitive, something to manage or override. But nobody ever taught us the body's language. We live in a world that trains the mind constantly and the body almost never, so the gap between the two just keeps growing. The body isn't broken. It's actually wise — it stores things, protects us, tries to tell us what it needs, in its own way. Most of us just never learned how to listen.

A lot of what I do now is somatic work — helping release tension and stress that's been stored in the body, sometimes for years or decades. Once there's safety, release can look like trembling, crying, quick breathing, or something more like a current moving through you. All of it is normal. It's the body doing exactly what it's built to do — processing what it hasn't had the chance to yet. Holding that space, and helping you trust what your body already knows, is the work.

I don't work alone, and every practitioner I bring in shares that same foundation, even if their focus looks different. Juan José works more with whole-body therapeutic massage — mobility, fluidity, helping you feel grounded in your frame. Ezra focuses on nervous system regulation — deep relaxation and presence. I move between somatic work and more traditional therapeutic bodywork depending on what a session calls for, but the somatic work is where my heart is.

Right now, everything happens in one small room. But the vision is bigger than that — a healing center, retreats, a place where people can learn their own body's language, and a community that supports each other in that. I'm not there yet, but I'm building toward it, one session at a time.

Juan José was the first practitioner I brought into this work. Originally from Spain, his path into bodywork started with his grandmother — caring for her through Alzheimer's, discovering what touch can offer when words no longer reach. That's stayed with him in everything he does at the table.

"Touch isn't just physical — it's one of the most human ways we can care for each other."
— Juan José, CMT

Our Approach

Three things we believe about bodywork.

01

Every body is different.

No two sessions at Moon Waves are the same. We don't follow a routine. We design each session around what your body is communicating that day — and adapt as we go.

02

Unhurried, by design.

We intentionally limit how many clients we see each day. Your session is never squeezed between back-to-back appointments. You have space to arrive, to be present, and to leave when you're ready.

03

The nervous system leads.

Tension, pain, and restricted movement are often signals of a system that never fully switches off. We work at that root level — creating the conditions for your body to feel safe, and from there, to release.

Who You'll Work With

Meet the people behind your session.

Domi, Juan José, and Ezra each bring a different touch, all working from the same philosophy: your body leads, we follow.
